RockeTruck, Inc. Enters Into Fuel Cell Module Purchase and Sale Agreement with American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

RockeTruck, Inc., a developer  and manufacturer of advanced power generation and conversion systems and components, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement with American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM), under which AHM will sell hydrogen fuel cell modules for use in RockeTruck’s new fuel cell power generators.

Under the agreement, starting 2026, AHM plans to sell RockeTruck fuel cell power modules assembled in Ohio by AHM’s affiliate, Honda Development & Manufacturing of America LLC.

The new fuel cell module purchase and sale agreement builds on a multi-year relationship in which Honda provided fuel cell modules to support RockeTruck’s development of their novel “Mobile Fuel Cell Generator” (MFCG). The MFCG uses a Honda fuel cell module to generate electricity on a mobile platform that can be transported easily in the bed of a pickup truck. The first prototype of this MFCG will be shown to the public in a series of field demonstrations in the Los Angeles region, starting in October of this year.

“RockeTruck is appreciative of the confidence Honda has shown in our company by entering into the purchase and sale agreement,” said Mike Simon, President & CEO of RockeTruck. “This enables us to deliver cleaner, quieter, and more resilient power solutions to communities and industries that need them most.”

“Honda is happy to see our fuel cell technology being applied in innovative ways to help decarbonize sectors that are traditionally hard to electrify,” said David Perzynski, Assistant Manager of Hydrogen Solutions Development at AHM. “RockeTruck’s mobile fuel cell generator helps demonstrate the flexibility and value of hydrogen fuel cells as a meaningful part of achieving a zero-emission future.”

RockeTruck’s MFCG systems are designed to provide zero emission electricity for a wide range of applications, including:

     • Emergency backup power during grid outages

     • Clean energy for construction sites and outdoor events

     • Sustainable power for remote and disadvantaged communities

     • Mobile EV charging and hydrogen fueling station support

Honda’s fuel cell modules, already used in passenger vehicles and stationary applications, offer a robust and scalable solution for RockeTruck’s evolving product line. The integration will also support RockeTruck’s goals of reducing system size, weight, and cost while enhancing energy efficiency and operational flexibility.

Development of the MFCG has been supported since 2022 by three public funding agencies – the California Energy Commission, U.S. Department of Energy, and L.A.’s South Coast Air Quality Management District. Other contributors to this development program include three investor-owned utilities – San Diego Gas & Electric Company, Southern California Edison, and the Southern California Gas Company.

RockeTruck also announced that it is now taking commercial orders for the MFCG, its first major product, for deliveries starting in the second quarter of 2026. RockeTruck, a privately held company founded in 2020 and based in Escondido, CA, also develops and manufactures advanced power converters, solid-state transformers, and energy management controls.
